Step 1 of 5 — Set up your vendors & materials

Start in the Setup tab. Add your leather vendors first — everything else is organized by vendor.e.g. Tandy Leather, Buckleguy, Springfield Leather, Wawak

Add your leather hides — name, tannery, color, weight, cost per sq in, sq footage on hand, and a low-stock alert.Already have a spreadsheet? Use Bulk import from CSV to bring it all in at once.

Add your hardware & materials — buckles, rivets, snaps, thread, etc. with vendor, SKU, cost per unit, starting stock, and unit type.Bulk CSV import is available here too.

Add supplies like tissue paper, ribbon, and packaging — they'll show up in your Inventory and in the packaging dropdown on the Pricing tab.

⚠️ Important: If you rename a leather or hardware item, existing BOM entries will still reference the old name and won't deduct correctly. After renaming, open the affected BOM entries in the History tab and re-save them from the Pricing tab to relink.

Tip: Set your default labor rate in Setup so it pre-fills every time you price a product.

Step 2 of 5 — Log what you make

When you finish a piece, go to the Bill of materials tab. Enter a product name and date.

Select a vendor — only that vendor's items appear in the dropdowns. Enter sq inches for leather and quantity for hardware.Live on-hand counts show next to each item as you build your list.

Hit Save BOM. The recipe saves to your History tab — inventory is not deducted yet.Inventory deducts when you save a product from this BOM in the Pricing tab.

Tip: Load any saved BOM straight into the Pricing tab with one click — no re-entering costs.

Step 3 of 5 — Price your products

Go to the Pricing tab. Load a saved BOM or enter material costs manually. Add your labor rate, hours worked, packaging, shipping, overhead, and markup %.

The app calculates your cost basis, suggested retail price, and profit margin. Enter your actual selling price to see real profit.

Add a photo and notes, set qty on hand, then hit Save product. It appears in the Products tab, becomes available in the Sales log, and inventory is deducted for the qty made.Editing a product and increasing qty will deduct the additional units. Deleting a product restores inventory for any qty on hand.

Tip: Use Quick Add in the Products tab for fast catalog entry when you don't need the full pricing breakdown.

Step 4 of 5 — Track your sales

Go to the Sales log tab. Select a product, then enter the sale price, quantity, platform, buyer name, shipping charged, and any discount.

A live preview shows revenue, COGS, profit, and margin before you save. Qty on hand updates automatically when you log the sale.

Running totals at the top track all-time revenue, COGS, profit, average margin, and units sold — exactly what you need at tax time.

Tip: COGS pulls from your saved product cost basis automatically — no extra math at sale time.

Step 5 of 5 — Customize & keep your data safe

Go to Settings to rename the app and tabs, hide tabs you don't use, and choose a color theme — 8 presets or a custom color picker.

Back up regularly. Settings → Create backup saves a .studio file to your computer. Use this when moving to a new version of the app — not the Excel export.

Your data lives in browser storage and saves automatically on every change. Clearing your browser cache will erase it — keep that backup habit.

Bulk import leather from CSV

CSV columns: vendor, tannery, name, color, weight, cost_per_sq_in, start_sq_ft, start_sq_in, alert_at. Only vendor and name are required. Duplicate items (same vendor + name) are skipped automatically.
